About Us

Who We Are

Advanced Technical Services Ltd (ATS) is a Canterbury based service company established by Phillip Ruby to meet the service requirements of dental practices.  Our services have grown and we now also offer our services medical practices (GP’s), orthodontic practices, oral surgeons, dental laboratories, dental technicians and many more allied health care providers.  ATS service most makes and models of equipment including the following: Dental units, X-ray equipment; (film and digital based systems), autoclaves, steam sterilisers, air compressors (oil free and silent), suction units, and dental hand pieces (high speed and slow speed).

The technology is constantly changing as are the compliance requirements for the dental and medical fields.  ATS attends regular industry training courses both here in New Zealand and internationally to keep abreast of these changes.

ATS is a pro-active service company encouraging the implementation of preventative maintenance over re-active repairs to breakdown situations.

Alongside Phill, ATS is pleased to have a dedicated team, including Service Coordinator Andrew Turner, Validation Engineer Dean Newberry, and Service Technician Cyn Tanner.

In November 2019, due to continued growth and to accommodate the increasing staff and workload at ATS, we will be moving in to larger premises located at 125A Waterloo Road, Hornby. With a location close to the central city we are able to continue to respond quickly to service and emergency repair requests quickly.

Meet The Team

Yo yo my Peeps,

I ‘m Phill and Advanced Tech is my baby!

I have been in the dental equipment servicing arena for 20+ years, initially in the North Island. My background is in industrial automation and I love technology and gadgets – my motto has been he who dies with the most toys wins!

With that said I enjoy woodworking and have a small CNC (computerised) wood working router. Think of it as a CAD/CAM for wood not teeth. This interest in technology has helped me in this ever changing field of dental equipment which is becoming more and more “digital” and complex.

Originally from Palmerston North I now consider myself a Cantabrian since I was here for the defining moments of the Canterbury earthquakes (incidentally I will never forget my Nieces birthday as she was born on September 4th 2010).  I have gained interest in producing you tube videos and have mucked around with some time lase photography.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KAZ0qpwIoM

My role is somewhat dynamic here at Advanced Tech,  I run the company assisted by a fantastic team, enjoy doing onsite work and meeting and liaising with our clients to ensure their equipment runs flawlessly.

I look forward to catching up in person….

Hi, my name is Andrew.

I used to work for Phill many years ago as a Service Technician, before deciding to leave and work in London for a while, working in different hospitals.

Since being back, I’m now working as a Service Coordinator, helping Phill behind the scenes with the daily running of the company and occasional site work when Phill is away.

Since being back in Christchurch I have itchy feet and like to travel as much as possible.

Hello my name is Cyn Tanner.

My role at Advanced Technical Services is to service and repair autoclaves, compressors and suction units, along with other miscellaneous tasks and developing into other areas of dental equipment.

My background is in engineering and industrial maintenance. Serving my Fitting, Turning and Machining apprenticeship at Christchurch Hospital and moving onto a diploma in Mechanical Design Engineering.

I’m married with three children and have lived in Christchurch all my life. My hobbies include vintage motorcycles, martial arts, pet rats, cryptic crosswords and coffee.

I’m enjoying working with a great team providing great service looking after your equipment and plant.

Hello World!

I’m Dean, and I recently started working here as a Validation Engineer. In contrast to Phill, Andrew and Cyn, my Role around here mostly entails computer and IT based tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting onsite Autoclave Validations,
  • Writing the Autoclave Validation Reports,
  • Madgetech Calibrations, and
  • This Website.

My biggest hobbies right now are Gaming and Programming. Having recently moved to Christchurch, I haven’t had as much time as I would like for either, but that’ll change when I settle.

I look forward to working with you!
